Joy in the church may be hard for some or an entirely new topic for others. It may seem typically charismatic or even too charismatic. It may strike you as purely emotional, and there may be any number of other concerns about it.
But it is entirely biblical to be full of joy and to express joy freely. Joy is an unavoidable part of the cross of Christ and our salvation. Jesus himself is the most joyful person. If He is our standard, we are called to be joyful ourselves. One third of the Kingdom of God is joy (Romans 14:17).
Bill Johnson says: “Jesus’ joy is contagious, it must become the mark of true believers once again.” (Dreaming with God, page 14).
We will provide plenty of biblical evidence for all these claims and take you on a fun journey through the entire Bible as regards the joy of the Lord and our call to be joyful always.
